Hindi Translation

English Translation

This is the most popular aarti of Lord Shiva, describing His many forms and manifestations — from Ekanana to Panchanana, holding the trident and kamandalu. It affirms that Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva are one supreme reality (Om), and glorifies Shiva as Vishwanath of Kashi, granter of the wishes of all who sing His aarti.

Significance

Sung on nearly every occasion related to Lord Shiva — daily temple aarti, Mondays (Somvar), Maha Shivratri, and Shravan month — this aarti is believed to grant the sincere devotee their heartfelt wish.

How to Chant?

Offer bel patra, water, and milk to the Shivling, light a diya or camphor, and sing the aarti while circling the lamp in front of the deity; it is customary to ring a bell throughout.

Number of Repetitions

Once at the end of daily Shiva puja; repeated through the night during Maha Shivratri jagran.

Best Time to Chant

Morning and evening aarti, Mondays, the month of Shravan, and Maha Shivratri.
